The Höngg hydropower plant has planned a comprehensive redesign of the interior for 2022. As a provider of guided tours, EWZ wanted, among other things, to modernize the reception room with an interactive projection wall, where the tour guide can dynamically address various topics at their own pace.
On behalf of EWZ and Pfeffermint, Nachtlicht delivered the sound and programming of the interactive wall. For this purpose, sensors were attached to the back of the wooden wall at the respective touchpoints. These touchpoints trigger various animations produced by Michael Stünzi, which are then projected onto the painted wooden wall.
To create reliable invisible touchpoints, we used Bare Conductive’s “Interactive Wall Kit” technology, which detects the presence of hands through surfaces.
The signals from these touchpoints are bundled in TouchDesigner, where they are used to trigger the various animations. Projection mapping, audio playback and the separate touchscreen also run via TouchDesigner, so that the entire installation is controlled by a single piece of software.
